Hello world, my fellow Americans, and TWiT Community members across the globe. I'm proud to announce that after careful consideration, and close consultation with my family and friends that I have decided to run for UGM, the Ultimate Gaming Machine competition.
It seems like just yesterday I was watching Leo, and the rest of the crew on TechTV. Like many of you, for as far back as I can remember I've been fascinated by computers, and eager to take them apart and put them back together. I still believe that were it not for the efforts of Leo Laporte and other tech journalists I may never have developed one of my life's true passions. For that I'm thankful
While I have been a casual consumer of TWiT content for quite a while, I really got involved back in October of 2008. I had just Graduated college, and found much of my spare time being funneled into building from scratch a Google Android Halloween Costume.
I joined the IRC and StickCam Chat with the nefarious intent of linkbaiting the pictures and videos of that costume on my blog. Thanks in no small part to the members of the TWiT community who have encouraged my candidacy for UGM, I quickly learned the err of my ways. I discovered many familiar faces, on air and in the chat rooms, and was perplexed by a community unlike any I've ever been a part of, online or off. While I may have arrived a troll, I soon became a TWiT.
This post marks the official beginning of my campaign to win the Ultimate Gaming Machine so lovingly crafted by Colleen and the rest of the TWiT family. Tomorrow I will present to Leo my official entry, but that will be just the beginning.
Out of more than one hundred entries mine must first be chosen by the TWiT judges as one of the best five. I'm confident that I'll be among the final five, but beyond that it will be left to you, the TWiT community to choose who will win UGM.
I will need your help! This site will act as the hub for all things GabeMcG in the UGM Contest. Soon you'll be able to view my platform, where I'll outline my 10 point plan to win the contest. Along the way, I'll upload campaign commercials, photos, songs, and other media. You'll also find links to this campaign's presence throughout the web. If I do earn your support for this contest, I hope you'll use the tools I've provided to spread the word about my campaign to members of the TWiT community and beyond!
